Hi!! I am back with a little update...
You might have read my previous post 3 years ago when I ended my blog with the following:
"I post pictures of my life as a student pilot, but hopefully in the future this can change to βmy life as an airline pilotββ¦
Hope to see you in the skies!
Herbie"
I am excited to share I am officially a qualified airline pilot on the A320/321!
The road from graduation to my first airline job wasn't as smooth as you'd like...
As you are aware COVID and Brexit made the jobhunt more challenging.
After being a pilot apprentice at a private charter company for a year, I got invited to my first commercial airline interview!
I still remember the 2nd of May '22 where I received my congratulations-email of passing the assessment!
As this was for a UK based company, holding just an EASA license, I had to get ahold of a UKCAA license/medical as well.
It took me 2 months to pass the initial MEP, initial IR and RT exam.
Once I received my expencive little booklet by post, I started my Type rating followed by Base training and Line training.
Line training was pretty intense, but such a great experience. The training was of high quality and I felt fully supported by my company throughout the entire process.
On 17 May 2023 I finally fulfilled my dream... I am officially out of training and a qualified airline pilot flying the A320/321!
Hard work always pays off!
See you in the skies!
Herbie
